I became aware of a woman in a long white medieval-style dress, standing in the clouds, her long blond hair tucked under an eight sided pillbox crown. She wasn’t just real. She was surreal, calm and serene as she held back three rearing black horses in her right hand. I thought I was seeing a vision of my death and that she’d come to take me away as she slowly raised her left hand. But instead of beckoning she turned her palm toward me revealing a blood-red downward pointing triangle. I watched as the horses strained against their reins, eyes bulging, hooves batting the dark sky – but the woman didn’t budge. Then like a shot the triangle flew at me before it stopped and danced before my eyes. Close up it looked alive, veined like a pulsing heart ready to burst. Whatever I thought it was at that moment I knew I must retrieve it from the dream when suddenly I was awake in my room with it still there, suspended before my eyes. I had never had anything happen like this before, a dream image materializing before me. But as I reached out to embrace it, it disappeared; dissolving into a thousand grains of red sand that ran through my fingers like dried blood and I was left alone in my dark and empty room.
