AL Report & Analysis Setup - 25/09/2025 08:08 EDT

I’m setting up a new Business Central report and need an AL report object created in Visual Studio Code with the BC extension. The data source is Sales Invoice Header, exposing Customer Name, Invoice Date and Invoice Amount, neatly grouped by Customer, with clear totals so users immediately see how much each customer has purchased.

Once the dataset is defined, design a polished layout—RDLC or Word, whichever you work fastest in—so the report prints and exports cleanly. No intricate custom code is expected; standard AL definitions and properties are enough.

To give users more ways to analyse the figures, configure an Analysis View and an Account Schedule that mirror the same sales data. After that, drop the view into Excel, build a pivot table and a lightweight visual dashboard, and make sure the workbook can refresh from Business Central.

• Ready-to-compile .al file for the report object
• Corresponding RDLC or Word layout file
• Analysis View and Account Schedule configuration (step-by-step or RapidStart package)
• Excel workbook with a pivot table and dashboard connected to the data

I’ll validate by publishing the object to a sandbox, printing the report, and refreshing the Excel file. Once those steps work without tweaks, we’re done.
