NET Backend Consultant for API Enhancement
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
We are seeking a senior .NET backend consultant to evaluate and improve our existing .NET API application with a focus on long-term maintainability, testability, and architectural design. This is a one-time consulting engagement aimed at guiding our team toward a more scalable, testable, and clean architecture while identifying technical debt and refactoring opportunities.
You will work closely with our development team and stakeholders to review the current architecture, propose improvements, review critical refactors, and best practices to ensure the system remains stable, scalable, and easy to maintain.
Responsibilities
1. Review and assess the current .NET API architecture, code structure, and test coverage.
2. Identify technical debt and refactoring opportunities aligned with long-term maintainability.
3. Propose improvements using appropriate design patterns and architectural principles (e.g., SOLID, clean architecture, layered architecture, dependency injection).
4. Provide written and verbal recommendations for:
4.1 Applying design patterns and SOLID principles.
4.2 Improving testability and strategies for incremental testing in a legacy codebase.
4.3 Enhancing scalability and modularity within the application’s architecture.
4.4 Highlight potential performance bottlenecks and suggest high-level strategies to address them.
4.5 Advise on secure coding and data protection best practices.
4.6 Participate in architecture discussions and knowledge transfer sessions with the team.
Requirements
* 5+ years of experience with C# and .NET (.NET Core) backend API development.
* Proven experience designing maintainable, scalable, and testable systems.
* Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles.
* Deep knowledge of design patterns, clean architecture, and SOLID principles.
* Experience with SQL Server and Entity Framework.
* Experience with automated testing and test-driven development.
* Ability to analyze and communicate complex architectural and codebase challenges clearly.
* Experience advising on microservices architecture and incremental refactor planning.
