Essential Tester for Dream Server Development

Job ID: 40313137

Budget: $15 – $100 USD

**Dream Server – Install Tester & Bug Reporter**

We're building Dream Server — an open source, one-command local AI stack that runs on anything. Linux, Windows, Mac. Consumer hardware, budget machines, older rigs. The goal is that anyone anywhere can self-host local AI without technical expertise.

We need real people with real machines to install it and tell us exactly what happens.

This is not a development role. Your job is to install, run, document, and report. We have developers who handle fixes. Do not submit code changes or suggestions for how to resolve issues — just tell us exactly what happened.

**What You'll Do Each Hour**
Run Dream Server installs across your available machines and operating systems, submitting a clear written report for each session. A productive hour looks like:
- One or more complete install attempts
- Detailed documentation of hardware, OS, and what happened
- Any error messages copied exactly
- Screenshots or terminal output where relevant

That's it. Install. Document. Report. Repeat.

**What We're Looking For**
We specifically need testers on hardware and operating systems underrepresented in our current testing:
- Windows machines (any spec)
- Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4)
- Linux distros beyond Ubuntu (Fedora, Arch, Debian, Mint, PopOS, etc.)
- Older or budget hardware — if it's not top of the line we want to know if it works

**What Makes a Good Report**
- Your exact hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM)
- Your OS and version
- What happened step by step
- Any error messages copied exactly
- Screenshots or terminal output where relevant
- What you tried if anything before giving up

Do not include code fixes, suggestions, or opinions on how to resolve issues. Just document what happened clearly and completely.

**Long Term Engagement**
For ongoing work, access to a wide variety of hardware is essential — whether that's your own collection, a homelab, a repair shop, friends with different machines, or any other way you can get Dream Server running on hardware we haven't tested. The more diverse your hardware access the more valuable you are to this project.

**How to Apply**
Tell us what machines and operating systems you have access to, and describe your experience testing or troubleshooting software installs. Bonus points if you've already tried Dream Server and have thoughts — but not required.
