Easy User Manual Writing
Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
I have a product that needs clear, step-by-step user manuals written for people who have little to no technical background. The goal is to turn our existing specs, screenshots, and rough notes into a friendly guide that lets anyone start using the product without frustration.
What I will give you • Raw feature descriptions, annotated screenshots, and a short video walk-through. • A basic outline of the sections I want covered (installing, first-time setup, everyday tasks, troubleshooting, FAQ).
What I need back • A fully written manual in Word or Google Docs, laid out so it can be exported to PDF. • Simple language throughout—no jargon unless it’s explained right away. • Consistent formatting (headings, numbered steps, callouts) plus alt-text for any images you add. • A brief change-log so I can track revisions.
Acceptance criteria 1. Every major feature is documented with at least one image or diagram. 2. Each task description follows the same numbered-step style. 3. Readability score targets 8th-grade level or lower (I’ll run the check). 4. Final file passes a quick test: two non-technical colleagues can follow it start to finish without extra help.
If you’re used to turning technical content into plain-English instructions and can keep a consistent voice across a multi-section manual, I’d love to see examples of similar work and hear how soon you could start.
