Battery LED Strand Circuit Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m building a series of artistic panels that each hold several short strands of low-voltage LEDs. I need a straightforward, battery-powered circuit that lets me switch everything on and off and smoothly dim the lights without wasting power.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
• Clear schematic for running multiple LED strands in parallel or series-parallel as you see fit.
• Parts list with readily available, low-cost components (constant-current driver or discrete solution, dimmer stage, on/off switch, basic protection).
• Battery guidance—chemistry, capacity calculations, and estimated run-time for typical use.
• Simple wiring diagram I can follow to hand-solder or breadboard a prototype.
Combining separate lighting strands into one battery box w.on/off switch and possible dimmer.
Nice-to-have extras if it doesn’t add much effort:
• A compact PCB layout in KiCad (or similar) so I can order a small board later.
• Quick notes on heat buildup and spacing inside a thin panel enclosure.
