Install & Configure DSpace on Ubuntu server

Job ID: 40245555

Budget: €400 – €1,200 EUR

Background: non-profit with MediaWiki on own server, wants to use Dspace as repository for digital library of PDF files that would be interfaced, called from the wiki website

Request approach and budget quote for

• installation and configuration of Dspace 9 (or 10 if it’s in a few months) on our server
with a work approach using github and docker containers for portability and backup copies, similar as we do with the current MediaWiki
• a simple upload script/process (so I can do upload PDF files in batches myself)
• a training knowledge handover session (Zoom or Teams) on the user and mgmt screens for managing metadata (we have a metadata layout available)

Please note we want to try and keep cost and complexity to a minimum. That is why we are looking for people experienced in Dspace that have an automated process for a templated standard installation, using Ansible and Docker Compose or equivalent. This mainly as a cost consideration, as such templating considerably reduces time and cost for a standard installation (which is all we need).

Acceptance criteria will be defined together but at least will be based on: Public site and REST endpoints loading without errors , Admin dashboard accessible with the credentials you supply, System services starting automatically after reboot, README detailing every step you performed and where you placed each config file

If you have prior experience upgrading or patching later DSpace versions, mention it—ongoing maintenance is likely once this first milestone is finished.

Note: I have investigated budget indications but am aware of how much it can vary (depending on where one draws the line on scope), so I'm open and will listen to what you propose here and select the most professional and cost-effective proposal for a future collaboration. On the other hand, please know I pay for this myself as this is non-profit and not a company.
