Docker persistent storage

I have a shiny app (using R) in a docker image. I created SQLite database inside the image itself, so whenever the container lost, the database data is also lost. I want the application to read the database from external source, so the data will be persistent regardless I created a new image or not. If you have experience in dealing with external data using docker, you can bid. We can meet on zoom to finish the required task. We may need the database file to be in same droplet or another droplet on DigitalOcean but not inside the docker image.
