AWS DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for SaaS + IoT MVP
Project Overview
We are building an AWS-based MVP for a multi-tenant SaaS + IoT platform and are looking for an experienced DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support environment setup, deployment automation, monitoring, and security best practices.
This is a pragmatic MVP build, not a large enterprise deployment. We are looking for someone who can build a clean, secure, scalable foundation without unnecessary overengineering.
The platform includes:
- Multi-tenant SaaS web application
- Dockerized backend services
- PostgreSQL database
- MQTT-based telemetry ingestion
- IoT / LoRaWAN integrations
- Secure outbound integrations from edge systems
- Web-first MVP (mobile later)
Current State
- Backend development already in progress
- Product architecture defined
- Development team already working
- Looking for a DevOps partner to establish cloud foundation and deployment standards
Scope of Work
Phase 1 – Architecture Review
Review proposed MVP infrastructure and validate/recommend improvements for:
- Simplicity
- Security
- Cost optimization
- Scalability
- Reliability
We prefer practical recommendations over enterprise complexity.
Phase 2 – AWS Environment Setup
Set up:
- Development environment
- Staging environment
- Production environment
Including:
- VPC
- IAM roles
- Networking/security groups
- Secrets/configuration management
- SSL/TLS setup
- Environment isolation
Phase 3 – Container & Compute Setup
Deploy containerized workloads.
Preferred approach:
- Docker
- ECS Fargate (preferred)
Open to alternatives if clearly justified.
Infrastructure will support:
- APIs
- Background services
- Telemetry ingestion
- Supporting platform services
Phase 4 – Database & Storage
Set up:
- PostgreSQL (RDS preferred)
- Backup strategy
- Storage/log retention
- S3 where appropriate
Phase 5 – CI/CD Pipeline
Set up automated deployments.
Preferred:
- GitHub Actions
- Terraform (preferred)
Goals:
- Automated deployments
- Rollback capability
- Dev → Staging → Production promotion
- Minimal downtime deployments
Phase 6 – Monitoring & Security
Implement MVP operational readiness:
- Logging
- Monitoring
- Alerts
- CloudWatch dashboards
- Backup recommendations
- Security baseline
- Infrastructure health visibility
