Hybrid Email Server Exchange 365 and cPanel (same domain)

At the moment, I have 2 mail servers, Exchange 365 and WHM cPanel. What I am trying to do is have some email addresses hosted on exchange and some on cpanel WHM. For example, I have john(at)example.com and pete(at)example.com. I'd like John to have his email hosted on Exchange and can send and receive emails. Similarly, Pete is hosted on WHM and can also send and receive emails. Note that they both hold the same domain name (example.com).

Using AWS SES to send SMTP
CDN: Cloudflare

I was told that I need to use connectors on Exchange workflow But I am unable to verify emails added to the workflow.

Nore: no credential will be given. Configuration must be done via Teams on my computer.
