DNS and email help

My son switched our website from Homestead to Squarespace. The problem is, Squarespace doesn't do e-mail so nothing was coming through. My domain is with GoDaddy so I went there and purchased an email account. Still, whatever Homestead is getting is not coming through. Homestead sent me the records to put into GoDaddy but it still doesn't work. I think the email I purchased from Godaddy is still prioritizing itself. At this point, I am afraid to delete it.
