Proof of Concept - Django Web App Hosted Locally Integrated With Sage 100 Contractor
Budget: $250 – $750 CAD
Project Scope of Work: This project is to show proof of concept of a locally hosted Django based web app that allows for Sage 100 Contractor Integration. Upon satisfactory completion of this project the developer would be asked to provide pricing on additional functionality and build out an internal estimating and project controls tool.
Objective:
Develop a web application with a Django backend and a React frontend to integrate with Sage 100 Contractor. The app will have two main functionalities:
1. Retrieve Budget and Commuted Costs for a Job Number.
2. Upload and Add Estimates to Sage 100 Contractor.
Key Features:
1. Job Number Lookup:
- Users can enter a job number.
- The app connects to Sage 100 Contractor (non-cloud-based) and retrieves the current budget and commuted costs for the specified job number.
- Display the budget and commuted costs to the user in a user-friendly format.
2. Estimate Upload:
- Users can upload Excel-based estimate files (Developer to create basic excel templates that are required to show proof of concept).
- The app parses the Excel file and extracts estimate data.
- The extracted data is formatted and transformed into a format compatible with Sage 100 Contractor.
- The app connects to Sage 100 Contractor and adds the estimate data to the system.
- Users receive confirmation of the successful upload.
3. Deployment:
- The web app will be deployed on our local server.
- Ensure that the app is accessible from authorized devices and personnel within our local network.
4. Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Comprehensive testing to ensure the functionality of the web app.
- Create a backup database for testing purposes, ensuring that data remains secure and can be restored as needed.
Technical Stack:
- Django for the backend.
- React for the frontend.
- Integration with Sage 100 Contractor through appropriate APIs or methods (consider compatibility with the accounting software).
- Database for storing app-specific data (e.g., user accounts, logs).
Deliverables:
- Fully functional web app with the specified features.
- Documentation for deployment and usage.
- Backup database for testing.
- Training or support on how to maintain and use the application.
