Systems Architect — Multi-Regional Reverse Proxy & API Gateway

We’re building a multi-regional API Hub and API Gateway platform — designed with reverse-proxy logic, high concurrency, and synchronization between regional clusters.
The system will handle massive parallel API traffic, secure authentication, request validation, and master-server synchronization across multiple regions (US / EU / AP).
This is a server-side architecture and backend design role — you’ll help define the foundation of a high-scale distributed gateway system.
Responsibilities
• Design and architect a multi-regional reverse proxy infrastructure capable of high concurrency and failover.
• Define master–slave synchronization logic (Redis or database replication) for keys, provider data, and configurations.
• Implement authentication layers (API key, token, or signed requests) for developers and clients.
• Design endpoint validation schema for path, query, header, and body parameters.
• Support cluster-based routing, provider endpoint allow-listing, and dynamic load balancing.
• Ensure fault tolerance, low-latency response times, and secure request isolation across regional servers.
• Document system architecture, Redis schemas, and data synchronization flow.
Tech Stack (Preferred Experience)
• NGINX + Lua (OpenResty) or similar reverse-proxy scripting
• Redis (Sentinel / Cluster mode)
• PHP / Python / Go for backend logic
• MySQL / PostgreSQL for metadata storage
• Familiarity with RapidAPI / Kong / Apigee / BrightData / OxyLabs Envoy-like architectures
• Understanding of multi-region replication and synchronization strategies
• Experience with load-balancing, rate limiting, and security validation
