Python & FFmpeg Discord Bot Setup
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
This is not a commercial venture, just a hobby, so only a pensioner's funds are available
My Discord server is running on Windows and, at the moment, it has no version of Python installed. I need someone who can come in, install Python 3.6 or newer alongside a working build of FFmpeg, and then walk me through everything that follows with clear screenshots and captions.
What I expect after the installs are complete:
• A brand-new Bot Application created in the Discord Developer Portal
• The exact steps (with screenshots) that show how you pulled the Bot Token
• A simple-yet-repeatable local development environment for the bot’s code (VS Code, PyCharm or even bare-bones IDLE is fine—whatever you’re most comfortable demonstrating)
• Sample Python code that connects, streams an internet radio station into a voice channel, and keeps playback continuous without manual intervention
• Instructions on how to launch the bot at will and how to shut it down cleanly
I’m not 100 % certain I have full admin rights on the server, so please be prepared to verify or work around limited permissions if necessary.
Deliverables I will use to sign off the project:
1. A working Python + FFmpeg installation on the Windows host.
2. A zipped folder (or Git repo) containing the bot script plus any requirements.txt.
3. A PDF or image set of the step-by-step screenshots with brief captions so I can retrace every action later.
4. Confirmation that continuous radio playback runs for at least 30 minutes without dropping out.
If you can get me from zero to a fully functioning, self-hosted Discord radio bot and leave me confident enough to repeat the process, we’re good to go.
