Whimsical Lake Illustration Needed
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I need a vibrant, cartoon-style painting for a children’s book spread: a serene lake brimming with lily pads and lush greenery, plus a single charming character adrift in a small boat. The atmosphere must stay unmistakably whimsical—think gentle, playful colors, exaggerated flora, and inviting light that feels almost story-book magical.
Because this will run full-page in print, please work at 300 dpi, CMYK, and supply both a flattened TIFF/PNG ready for the press and the layered source file (PSD, Clip Studio, or Procreate are all fine). Complex backgrounds are important here; I’m counting on rich detail in water reflections, overlapping plants, and depth cues that pull young readers into the scene.
Workflow
• Rough composition sketch so we can lock placement of the boat, character pose, and main greenery
• Clean line art or value study for approval
• Final color pass with subtle texture and lighting adjustments
Final acceptance criteria
• Cartoonish style consistent with the sketch I approve
• Clearly readable focal character, no merging into background elements
• Minimum size: 11" × 17" at 300 dpi (or proportionally equivalent)
• Layered file organized by background, midground, foreground, and character for possible edits
