reliability of file metadata

I believe this is simple. I have a few (one or two) small odt files and a few (2) txt files that need scrutiny. My ask is to evaluate the accuracy of the file meta data and indicate if the information is reliable or the reliability cannot be determined with reasons. Simply, hash the files, make copies, then evaluate.
