Whimsical Children’s Book Illustrations

I’m ready to bring my picture-book manuscript for 4- to 7-year-olds to life and need an illustrator whose style is unmistakably whimsical—think a single character (or two), line art, simple colour palettes, and imaginative settings that spark curiosity with every turn of the page.

Good examples are Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings (Google those).

Scope
• More than 20 full-colour illustrations (exact count and sequence shared once we start).
• Cover artwork that feels cohesive with the interior spreads.
• Print-ready files in CMYK plus web-ready versions in RGB.
• Layered source files (PSD, Procreate, or similar) so small text or layout tweaks are easy later on.

What I’ll provide
• Finalised manuscript with page-by-page illustration notes.
• Character descriptions and rough thumbnails for pacing.
• Brand palette and font guidelines to keep the visual tone consistent.

What I’d love from you
• Initial concept sketches for key scenes so we can align early.
• A clear milestone plan (sketches → refined line art → colour).
• Open, friendly communication—weekly check-ins suit me best.
• Experience illustrating for young readers, especially ages 4-7.

Timeline is flexible but I’m aiming to complete artwork within the next couple of months. If whimsical worlds and expressive characters are your specialty, I’d love to see a few portfolio pieces that show how you capture emotion, movement, and vibrant storytelling.
