Realistic Dramatic Desert-Sea Landscape
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I want to create a digital image for printing on paper. The image would be based on the attached concept picture. The final image will be an image file used for a large print that is 3 meters wide by 1 meter tall. However, we will initially prototype on smaller sizes before approving the final design for full illustration.
These are the requirements for the image:
• Based on the attached concept image. It should show a desert landscape with trees and bushes in the foreground, a white palace in the middle and in the background a rocky hill and the sea. Specifically keep the shape of the mountain.
• The final resolution, once the design is approved, will be 3 meters wide by 1 meter tall at 250 ppi.
• The resolution should be real detail, not just expanded pixels or repeated patterns. Someone should be able to walk up to the picture, inspect it closely and identify individual small details. For example, up close you may be able to identify individual straws of the bushes or perhaps locate an individual desert hare.
• The image should not be repetitive as if it were designed by AI. It should feature realistic and unique variations and nuances, rather than patterns.
• The defining feature of the image should be the color work. The concept image attached is simply to provide structure for image subjects. The actual color work of that image is far too monotone. Specifically the color work should:
Feature micro graduations and variations like Claude Monet’s work. Think ‘Sunset on the Seine’ or ‘San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk’.
Feature bright colorful highlights like Van Goghs work. Think ‘Café Terrace at Night’ or ‘Starry Night’ – but with far smaller brush strokes.
These graduations can be utilised in the colour of the water, the sky and the sand. It may be an option to have the sky as sun rise time for graduation. Because of the size someone looking up close should get lost in the detail and colors of the water alone for example.
Should stay true to desert colour pallet, such as the one suggested in the concept picture attached though perhaps less brown than the concept picture.
• Style – Should be painterly, realistic but playful with color work. While I mention impressionist artists above this is for color work alone not for the style overall. The final image should NOT be impressionist. The final product should be painterly and simulate fine micro brush strokes that are not visible at a distance but observable upon close inspection.
Other details:
• The white palace should not be clearly modern – glass is okay but there’s a section in the concept photo that has large glass panels that is too obviously modern. It should be early 20th century construction.
• There should be a flag of Bahrain on the palace. It should be small and one of those details you observe when inspecting the landscape up close.
• The simulated location is Bahrain and the landscape should pay homage to the wildlife and plants of Bahrain specifically and GCC more generally. Specifically:
Native – Fauna (wildlife) and Flora (plants) should be native to Bahrain or the GCC – such as the desert hare, maha etc. There shouldn’t be species that do not belong to Bahrain. Add one or two Arab falcons as well.
Do not go overboard with the animals. This is still primarily a landscape picture – it’s not meant to be National Geographic.
• The color hue should be subtly skewed towards pink / magenta rather than green / yellow.
• We will consider whether to add a Bahraini dhow boat to the water.
Process for this job:
• First we prototype the image (normal resolution) until we’re happy with the design.
• Then we prototype the details using an expanded section of the image. This will be to see the level of detail we’ll be including (e.g. individual straws of the bush), the micro brush strokes finishing and the micro color highlights and micro variations in colour.
• Finally, we approve the image for final production for high resolution.
