Logo creation/manipulation

I have a client who uses a flat jpg version of their logo from years and years ago on their web site.

They lost the source file so all they have is the flat jpg.

I'd like someone to help me recreate the logo in a digital format but, at the same time, also offer up a few alternate designs in the same process.

This is a new client for me and I can't quite get a good read on if they just want the logo re-created as is or if they want something new. We have had entire conversations about doing new but also conversations about keeping the logo as is.

Normally, I run contests on here because I love how quickly they result in submissions. That has all changed with AI. I still get results pretty quick but most are garbage AI stuff.

Plus freelancers are reaching out directly to my clients, going around me, and trying to secure the work for themselves directly from the end client. That or sending them direct messages outside of Freelancer asking them to rate submission X or questioning why entry X is only two stars.
