Enhanced Star Wars Galaxy Map Design
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
Hello, I'm contacting you to see if you could help me with a somewhat unusual task requiring Photoshop, as you say you accept any graphic design.
I enjoy creating maps of the Star Wars galaxy using Paint.Net, and I've had the idea of improving the result with Photoshop. While it's been satisfying to me, I'm still looking for more.
I'm not talking about a simple map, but a set of layers, each containing specific features that overlap, forming the map itself. The entire map contains:
-A black background
-The Hyperspace Computing Grid
-The sectors and supersectors of the galaxy
-The borders of the galaxy's major powers
-Hyperspace routes and trade routes
-A set of ~1,200 listed planets
-All agricultural worlds in the galaxy
-All industrial worlds in the galaxy
-All mining worlds in the galaxy
-All shipyards in the galaxy
-All Sith/Jedi locations in the galaxy
Here is the result made via Photoshop on my side, but I wonder if the result could not be better, more beautiful, even more impressive.
I'd like you to improve everything as a whole.
As explained previously, what you see here is the export of my work from Paint.Net to Photoshop. Then I improved it as best I could.
You can see that between the first image (Paint.Net) and the second (Photoshop), the result is more readable, more beautiful, and more eye-catching.
It's a good start, it's pretty, but it's not the final level I want my work to have, and I know that despite my basic Photoshop skills, it won't be enough to achieve my goal.
I don't want you to edit these galaxy maps, but rather the Photoshop file as a whole, that is, all these layers. In order to achieve a result much better than mine.
Only the superposition of these layers will show whether the work is successful.
The file is divided as follows:
There are files containing one or more layers (from top to bottom):
A) Grids & Numbers (must always be visible)
-Grids & Numbers
B) Sectors (layers x2)
-Sectors (must always be visible)
-Sectors (Names)
C) Planets
1) Sith & Jedi Locations
-Sith & Jedi Locations (Names)
2) Industrial Worlds
-Industrial Worlds (Names)
3) Shipyards
-Shipyards (Names)
4) Mining Worlds
-Mining Worlds (Names)
5) Agriworlds
-Agriworlds (Names)
D) Axes
-Hyperspace & Trade Axes
E) Borders
-Empire (Borders)
-Republic (Borders)
-Neutral (Borders)
F) Background (must always be visible - black background)
-Layer 1
-Layer 2
-Background
Here is my proposal:
As explained I don't want you to edit these galaxy maps, but rather the Photoshop file as a whole, that is, all these layers. In order to achieve a result much better than mine.
I'll give you several options to achieve this.
1) Option 1: I'll give you my Photoshop file so you can improve/change the layers to get a much better rendering than mine.
2) Option 2: I'll give you my Paint.Net file, the source file, so you can improve/change the layers to get a much better rendering than mine. But this means you have to work on the map in its most raw state.
3) Option 3: I'll give you my Photoshop file, and you don't modify it. No, you'll redo everything from scratch, you'll redo the map in its entirety (with the files containing the layers). You'll redo everything from A to Z, to scale.
Of course, knowing the work involved in this third option (having spent a lot of time building everything myself).
I only have four requirements:
A) That the result be much better than mine
That the result is more readable, more beautiful, and more eye-catching.
B) That everything be to scale and in its place:
-Planets in the right place
-Names in the right place
-Roads in the right place
-Sectors too
-Etc.
C) That only the territory colors remain unchanged.
-Empire (Red), Republic (Blue), Neutrals (Pink/Orange/Green)
You can change the color tone to improve readability if needed, but the color type must remain the same. For hyperspace routes, sectors, etc., you're allowed a WILD card, do what you want.
D) That the map be editable
I plan to use this map, modified by you, in the future, so I must be able to modify it as it was originally.
I'm offering a second and third option because I'm aware of the flaws in my work. If you zoom in far enough, you can see small errors in the drawing, the outlines of the lines, differences in brightness, little tricks to cover things up, etc.
I'd like to avoid this, to have a work that lives up to the expectations I originally set, but which I myself cannot fulfill.
