Website Management and Administration - Devops

Job ID: 37166516

Budget: £18 – £36 GBP

I am working with a software development company who is looking to deploy over 50 different websites (offering web development and related services) for the purpose of conducting research into the Managed Services Provider market.

If you are an experienced devops / web admin ready to deploy and maintain a website and deliver the 1st part of the project immediately - please read ahead.

The first objective of the project is to deploy 15 websites by Tuesday the 12th of September 2023.
One developer per website is only allowed and we are looking for developers across the world.
We need the deployment and way of maintenance to be objectively different. We need objectively different traffic for analysis, and for this we need different hands. So no agencies please.
The websites are already built but there will be admin work to do and collaboration with designers to make them look better and relevant to the domains purchased.

You must own your own business/legal entity in order to participate in this project. If you work as a sole trader/sole proprietor you can also apply.
We will need to sign an agreement (non-disclosure and regulation of partnership); therefore this project is only for independent contractors officially registered as a self employed entrepreneur or small enterprise.
You must have experience in website deployment, migration, administration and maintenance.

Project Details
The project is split in two parts. Part number 1 to be delivered by Tuesday the 12th of September is the website deployment and configuration (to include domain purchase or transfer and renting a separate virtual server in any virtual hosting or in the cloud (AWS, DigitalOcean, Vultr etc.).
Each developer will have to manage that process directly due to time constraints and all relevant costs will be compensated. We are comfortable with paying for these costs in advance if the developer deems it necessary.
You will need to deploy and configure the website by Tuesday the 12th of September (around 20 - 24 hours of work), and then maintain it for a long time.
The second part of the project around website maintenance is long-term, 6+ months and it will require 1 - 2 hours of work monthly.

Website configuration will include:
CMS configuration, and integration of additional monitoring software (to be provided). We use different CMS, so we cannot specify it in advance. However, most websites are built on WordPress.
You will also need to replace some texts and logo images after the domain allocation.

Domain name ownership
Domain names should be purchased in the name of the respective contractor for the purposes of the research. So you need to be comfortable with this and purchase max ownership protection.
If you do own domain names that can be relevant for websites offering web development services we will be happy to lease them from you.
Domains must be registered earlier than summer 2023; ideally most of them 2022 and (much) earlier.
We own a few domains but we will need to transfer ownership to you (this is again to ensure the data gathered for the research is not compromised).

Traffic monitoring and management software

After the website is set up and running, we will give you access to the traffic monitoring and management software (the name to be disclosed following contracts signing) you will be able to (a) register an account and (b) install and configure the web server integration software. You will not need to pay for that, we will grant access to your email address.

You will have to sign a framework agreement regulating its use; and as a bonus you will get a right to use this service on your own projects, and a set of appropriate materials. If you are interested, this could be a source of additional income, but this is optional.

Of course, after the normal deployment to production you should use specific admin emails on your side and let us know the hosting provider chosen and the domain provider.

Summary of the 1st part:

Allocate or purchase the domain name, unless you already own a relevant domain.
Rent a separate virtual server in any virtual hosting or in the cloud (AWS, DigitalOcean, Vultr etc.).
Deploy (from archive or repository) or migrate the site from another hosting. But a live site is needed for control regardless.
Make sure the CMS is working correctly.
Change the logo and some id texts upon the domain allocation.
Configure the monitoring software. To do this, you will need to install an Apache or Nginx server extension plugin which will be provided to you (so the choice of web server is limited to these servers). Alternatively, you can also use cPanel plugin.

If you are willing to take on this challenge please do get in touch and let me know if you are comfortable delivering the 1st part of the project by Tuesday the 12th of September latest.

You need to be able to perform all of the above, independently, be willing to deliver fast and be available to communicate with me throughout the process.

Payment for the 1st part will be on completion and for the 2nd part payments will be quarterly. Payment terms will be agreed on an hourly basis and if you decide to work with us you will need to provide us with your full name, business name, business registration number and address and email address.

You will also need to sign an NDA, a contractor agreement, a domain lease agreement (if you own a relevant domain and willing to lease it to us) and the software regulation agreement after the website is ready. We will also add you to our slack channel for instant communication.

Looking forward to meeting you!
