Systems admin, cloud hosting expert to help with migration, server hardening and optimization
Budget: $10 – $55 USD
I’m in the middle of consolidating every site, JavaScript app, and MySQL/MariaDB database I own onto a single, very beefy Linux-based Virtual Dedicated Server. I already handle the SSH work, spin up Nginx, move files, and take care of day-to-day tasks, but I want a second set of expert eyes to make sure nothing is left on the table when it comes to database imports, security hardening, and performance tuning.
No php nor apache involved. We will use nginx and cloud fare.
******* Looking for a Full Stack developer, Networking and Cloud Host Expert, System admin *******
I am migrating all my web sites, js apps and DB's from multiple web hosts / multiple servers into 1 very large (Virtual Dedicated Server) server. I am looking for a system admin / web developer (front, back, full stack) / cloud hosting & network expert to provide guidance, evaluation, help with DB imports, migrations, optimize server for security & performance and help in what ever way needed. This may seem like a large project but it's not because I will be doing alot of the work as well. I am tech savy with ssh command line. I can install nginx and ftp the files and do lots of stuff. You will help more with DB and optimizations and what not.
What you’ll actually be doing
• Review my current multi-host setup and map out the cleanest path to a one-server future.
• Script or directly handle the MySQL/MariaDB dumps, transfers, and restores so they land intact and optimized.
• Harden the new box—firewall rules, SSH best practices, fail2ban, TLS, user permissions, the works.
• Fine-tune Nginx/PHP-FPM/Node, tweak kernel limits, and suggest caching or CDN tweaks where a measurable gain is possible.
• Be available for questions as I migrate each site so I’m not blocked by an unexpected config edge case.
Acceptance checkpoints
1. All databases imported, verified, and running error-free.
2. Benchmarks show tangible performance gains over the old fragmented setup.
3. Security audit passes with no critical or high-severity findings.
I’m quick to provide access, responsive to suggestions, and happy to handle the grunt work—I just need your skill set to steer the process and catch what I miss. If that sounds like time well spent, let’s get started.
