Project Description:
We are looking for an experienced database developer to design and implement a transactional database in Google BigQuery. This database will serve as the backbone of our business operations and will also be used to train algorithms for various purposes. The database will initially include tables for products, suppliers, clients, RFQs, offers, and quotes.
Project Requirements:
1. Database Design:
Design a relational database schema for Google BigQuery to accommodate the following tables: Products, Suppliers, Clients, RFQs, Offers, Quotes, and a junction table for Products and Suppliers.
Table Descriptions:
Products:
A table to store detailed information about products, including attributes such as product name, description, category, and more.
Suppliers:
A table to capture essential supplier details, enabling efficient management of supplier relationships.
Clients:
A table for storing client information, including contact details and company-specific data.
RFQs (Request for Quotation):
This table will manage RFQ-related information, including request status, required delivery dates, and attachments.
Offers:
The offers table will contain data regarding offers made in response to RFQs, including pricing and offer statuses.
Quotes:
This table will store detailed quotes, including product-specific quantities, unit prices, and additional quote details.
ProductSupplier (Junction Table):
A table to associate products with their respective suppliers, including supplier-specific product codes and pricing information.
2. Table Specifications:
Define table structures, data types, and relationships.
Ensure that the Product table can be populated through an API, and provide guidance on the API integration.
3. Data Volume:
The database is expected to handle up to 50,000 products, 1,000 suppliers, and 100 clients initially.
4. Integration:
Develop a plan for data population, focusing on the Product table through an API, and offer recommendations for populating other tables.
5. Data Maintenance Tool (Future Development):
Create a scalable database structure that allows for easy integration of a data maintenance tool to complete and update the other tables as needed.
6. Documentation:
Provide clear and comprehensive documentation for the database schema, relationships, and API integration (if applicable).
7. Google Cloud Environment:
The Google Cloud environment will be provided to the selected candidate for database implementation and development.
