Shopify Employee Rewards Redemption Store
Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced Shopify developer to build a simple, user-friendly employee rewards redemption website using Shopify.
This will not be a traditional e-commerce store. Instead, employees will redeem company-issued points for branded merchandise. No credit card or other form of payment will ever be used.
Our primary goals are:
• Simple employee experience
• Easy administration
• Reliable reporting
• Fast implementation
Employee Experience
When an employee visits the website, they should:
1. Enter a unique redemption code.
2. Have the code validated.
3. Be taken to the rewards store.
4. See:
o Company logo and branding
o Aircraft image (provided by us)
o Their name
o Their remaining point balance
5. Browse available rewards.
6. Add one or more items to their cart.
7. Redeem their points.
8. Receive an order confirmation.
The employee should never be asked for payment information.
Rewards
Each reward will be set up as a Shopify product (SKU).
For this initial program:
• Some products will cost 100 points
• Some products will cost 50 points
Each employee will receive 100 points.
Examples:
• One 100-point item
• Two different 50-point items
• One 50-point item with 50 unused points remaining (optional, depending on the final business rules)
The shopping cart should always display:
• Points used
• Remaining point balance
Employees should not be able to exceed their available balance.
Redemption Codes
Each employee should receive a unique redemption code.
Preferred requirements:
• Randomly generated
• 8–12 alphanumeric characters
• Assigned to one employee only
• Can expire on a specified date
• Cannot be reused once all available points have been redeemed
• Should display an appropriate message if expired or invalid
If Shopify cannot generate these automatically, we are open to a custom solution.
Employee Import
We would like an easy method to upload employees from Excel or CSV.
Example:
Employee Name Email (optional) Redemption Code Points
xxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 100
Ideally, we would upload employee names and Shopify (or a custom app) would generate and assign the redemption codes automatically.
Administration
The system should be easy to manage without requiring technical knowledge.
We would like to be able to:
• Upload employees
• Assign point balances
• Set expiration dates
• View remaining balances
• View completed redemptions
Reporting
Reporting is very important.
We need to be able to export data to Excel showing:
• Employee name
• Redemption code
• Products selected
• Quantity
• Date redeemed
• Points redeemed
• Remaining point balance
CSV or Excel format is preferred.
Design
We are not looking for an elaborate custom design.
We will provide:
• Company logo
• Aircraft image
• Product photos
• Product descriptions
• Point values
The website should have a clean, professional appearance that matches our corporate branding.
Timing
This project is time-sensitive.
We would like the website completed and operational by July 14.
Please indicate:

Additional Notes
We are intentionally trying to keep this project as simple as possible for both employees and administrators.
We are open to recommendations if there is a better way to accomplish these requirements while still using Shopify as the platform.
