Revert Improper WordPress Slug Changes and Clean Up Redirects
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Overview
I am seeking an experienced and trustworthy WordPress developer to safely revert approximately 300 post slugs that were improperly changed on my website, https://theencoreproject.org, and remove the corresponding 301 redirects created during that time. The goal is to restore all URLs to their original, SEO-friendly slugs and ensure that:
No improper 301 redirects remain
The sitemap accurately reflects the restored slugs
Google Search Console is no longer conflicted
Internal links function properly
Security Note: A prior freelancer triggered a malware warning by installing unauthorized software. For this reason, no plugins, scripts, or third-party tools may be installed or uploaded without my prior written approval.
Deliverables
Revert ~300 slugs to their original values using the WordPress post editor.
Remove or disable all 301 redirects associated with the improper slug changes using the Redirection plugin.
Verify that all restored URLs function correctly, without redirect chains or 404 errors.
Resubmit a clean sitemap to Google Search Console reflecting the restored slugs.
Provide a final report that includes:
List of reverted slugs (before and after)
Redirects removed
Any issues or exceptions encountered
Requirements
Must be highly experienced with:
WordPress slug/permalink management
The Redirection plugin
Internal linking and SEO best practices
URL mapping and QA testing
Ability to work with a staging site or during off-peak hours (preferred)
Fluent in English and responsive to messages within 24 hours
Security Conditions
No plugins, themes, scripts, or third-party tools may be installed or uploaded without my explicit written consent.
Work must be completed in a manner that maintains WordPress core stability and does not trigger malware alerts.
If you need access to the database or server files, please explain why and request access formally.
Full site backup will be performed before work begins.
Budget & Timeline
Budget: Up to $150
Deadline: 3–5 business days from project award
To Be Considered, Please Answer:
Have you ever reversed a large batch of slugs and removed related 301 redirects before? Please describe a similar project.
How do you plan to ensure that no internal links break and SEO is preserved?
What tools or methods will you use to verify successful reversion and cleanup?
Will you work within the WordPress dashboard only, or do you require server/database access?
How will you handle redirect cleanup using the Redirection plugin?
Can you provide a brief plan outlining your process?
