Resolve Oracle 10g ORA-1017 Issue
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
After changing the database password my Oracle 10g-based application now stops at startup with an ORA-1017 “invalid username/password” error.
• I have already replaced the old password in every configuration file that holds connection details.
• The application connects through a TNS Names entry, not a hard-coded JDBC URL or direct string.
• I double-checked TNSNAMES.ORA and the service name, host, and port all match what DBeaver uses—DBeaver logs in successfully with the same credentials, so the account itself is fine.
What I need is a quick investigation and fix that lets the application authenticate again. I am happy to give you the tnsnames entry, listener status, sqlnet.ora, and any logs you request, and can run test queries or SQL*Plus commands on demand.
Acceptance will be:
1. Application starts without ORA-1017.
2. Steps you took documented so I can repeat them in future password rotations.
If you have dealt with 10g password case-sensitivity, sqlnet.ora settings, or JDBC thin driver quirks before, this should be straightforward. Let me know what details you need and an estimated turnaround time.
