Access Database Query Improvement
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I have an Access database for managing information about friends and relatives. I use this to automatically address snail mail for birthday cards & Christmas letters etc., generate monthly birthday lists, record gifts given, and various other things.
It is not a particularly good design but it serves my purposes.
I have developed a few queries to create address labels in various formats. The queries work fine for couples but it gets a bit tricky to NOT include a partner if they have passed on or separated etc.
It is tricky because I want to keep the information about everybody even after they have passed, but I don't want to include their name when addressing a card or letter to the remaining partner. I would rather not re-write the database and am looking for someone to create some clever queries to get around my problem.
I use tick boxes to indicate if someone has passed, if they should get a birthday card or a Christmas letter, or if the are English speakers etc. I may include other factor at a later time - maybe.
