Windows Accounting Software Development

I’m building a Windows-only desktop application that lets a small finance team handle day-to-day accounting without relying on cloud services. The heart of the project is a solid financial-reporting engine that can create a full ledger, generate balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements, monitor debtors and creditors in real time, and push every report straight to Excel for further analysis.

Role-based security is essential. The system must let me define at least an Admin role (full rights) and one or more limited roles (e.g., data entry or view-only) so access to sensitive figures is controlled from the start.

Key deliverables
• Installable Windows desktop app (MSI or EXE)
• Core database schema and data layer for ledger entries
• Reporting module producing:
  – General Ledger
  – Balance Sheet
  – P&L Statement
  – Debtors/Creditors ageing and summary
• One-click Excel export for every report
• Role-based authentication and permissions manager
• Brief setup & user guide

I’m flexible on the tech stack—C#/.NET (WinForms, WPF) or a modern framework like Electron are both fine as long as performance is crisp and the UI feels native on Windows. Clean, well-documented code and a straightforward build process are a must so future enhancements are easy.
