Technical Documentation for Operational Tech Platforms
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We are seeking an experienced Technical Solution Architect to document two fully developed and operational technology platforms.
The platforms have already been designed and built. This engagement is focused entirely on reviewing the existing systems and producing complete, professional, enterprise-grade technical documentation.
Scope of work:
* Review the existing source code, repositories, infrastructure, databases, APIs and third-party integrations.
* Conduct technical discovery sessions with our development and management teams.
* Document the complete current-state solution architecture.
* Create high-level and low-level architecture documents.
* Produce professional architecture diagrams, including:
* System context diagrams
* Solution architecture diagrams
* Application and component diagrams
* Infrastructure and cloud architecture diagrams
* Network and security architecture diagrams
* Data-flow diagrams
* Database and entity-relationship diagrams
* API and third-party integration diagrams
* User authentication and authorization flows
* Deployment and CI/CD workflows
* Backup, disaster-recovery and business-continuity flows
* Document the frontend, backend, databases, services, APIs and technology stack.
* Document data processing, storage, encryption, access controls and retention.
* Prepare API and integration documentation.
* Document user roles, permissions and administrative functions.
* Prepare deployment, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting guides.
* Document security controls, logging, monitoring and incident-management processes.
* Identify any documentation gaps, technical risks or inconsistencies discovered during the review.
* Deliver editable source files for all documents and diagrams.
Required experience:
* Proven experience documenting complex SaaS, FinTech, RegTech or enterprise platforms.
* Strong background in solution architecture, software architecture and cloud infrastructure.
* Ability to understand an existing system by reviewing code, repositories and infrastructure.
* Experience producing professional documentation suitable for developers, auditors, regulators, investors and enterprise clients.
* Strong experience with tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io, Mermaid or equivalent.
* Excellent technical writing and English communication skills.
* Strong understanding of APIs, databases, cloud environments, cybersecurity and DevOps.
