Access Database Documentation & Dictionary
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I maintain a Microsoft Access application that has grown to close to 200 tables and roughly the same number of queries, forms, and class modules. I now need a full set of documentation so I can hand the system over to new team members with confidence.
Here is what I expect:
• Technical and user-friendly documentation that explains how the database is structured and how it should be used.
• A data dictionary delivered in a spreadsheet / CSV that lists every table, its relationships, indexes, primary and foreign keys, along with information on the forms, queries and other objects.
• An overview of the schema with diagrams or other visuals to show ERD and DFD
• Clear notes on any VBA or macro-driven logic and business rules that affects the tables, so future developers can trace behavior without digging through code.
I’m open to whichever tooling you’re most comfortable with—Access Documenter, SQL scripts, ER-diagram generators, or custom VBA—provided the final outputs meet the points above and are easy to keep in sync with future changes.
