Supabase Migration & Schema Reset Expert Needed (Dev Environment)
Project Description
I am building a WeBuyAnyCar style car selling web platform and I need an experienced Supabase/PostgreSQL developer to help resolve a migration history conflict and stabilise my development environment.
This is not a production system - I am still in the development phase and do not need to preserve any existing data. The goal is to get to a clean, working Supabase backend that aligns properly with my codebase so I can continue development confidently.
Current Situation
• I use Supabase (Postgres) with a repo containing many SQL migrations:
• Tables
• RLS policies
• Triggers
• Functions
• Financial logic (invoices, payments, commissions)
• Multiple migrations were created with the same timestamp prefix, which caused:
• duplicate key value violates unique constraint "schema_migrations_pkey"
• Mismatch between local migration files and Supabase’s schema_migrations table
• I attempted partial fixes, but the Supabase project is now out of sync with the repo.
What I Need Help With (Scope)
Primary objective:
Reset and stabilise the Supabase backend so it cleanly rebuilds from migrations.
Specifically, I need someone to:
1. Audit my migration files
• Ensure all migrations have valid, unique numeric timestamps
• Fix ordering issues if present
2. Decide on the cleanest recovery path
• Either:
• Repair migration history safely OR
• Reset the Supabase project and re-apply migrations cleanly (likely preferred)
3. Ensure supabase db push runs cleanly
• No migration conflicts
• No schema inconsistencies
4. Verify the result
• Tables exist as expected
• RLS policies applied
• Functions & triggers deployed
5. Leave me with a stable setup
• So tools like Claude Code can continue development without issues
What This Is NOT
• No UI/UX work
• No frontend coding
• No production data recovery
• No long-term maintenance (short engagement)
Required Experience
Please apply only if you have real experience with:
• Supabase (CLI, migrations, RLS)
• PostgreSQL migration strategies
• Handling migration conflicts / resets
• SQL debugging
• Modern full-stack workflows (GitHub-based)
If you’ve dealt with Supabase migration issues before, this will be straightforward.
Deliverables
• Clean, working Supabase backend
• Migrations aligned with repo
• Clear explanation of what was done (brief)
• Confidence that future migrations won’t break again
Timeline
• Ideally completed within 1-2 days
• This is a focused technical task, not a long project
Budget
Open to reasonable offers.
I’m prioritising competence and speed, not the cheapest bid.
To Apply, Please Include
• Brief explanation of similar Supabase/Postgres migration issues you’ve solved
• Your recommended approach (repair vs reset)
• Estimated time to complete
