Senior PostgreSQL Database Architect Needed

I'm seeking an experienced database architect to help enhance the performance of our SAAS product's PostgreSQL database.

Responsibilities Include:
- Identifying and addressing slow query execution, inefficient indexing, and any other potential performance issues.
- Implementing appropriate solutions to enhance database performance.

Stabilize Database to Prevent Outages During Peak Loads
○ Analysis and Optimization:
■ Conduct a thorough analysis of the current database setup.
■ Identify and optimize inefficient queries and database configurations.
■ Fine-tune database parameters for optimal performance.
○ Hardware and Infrastructure:
■ Ensure the instance size (48 cores, r6) is adequately utilized.
■ Evaluate and upgrade to SSD storage if not already in use.
○ Load Management:
■ Implement better load balancing strategies to distribute peak loads.
■ Use pg_bouncer efficiently to manage database connections.

2. Reduce Database Size to Save Costs
○ Data Cleanup:
■ Identify and archive old or unnecessary data.
■ Reduce the size of large tables (e.g., the largest table at 92 GB).
○ Partitioning:
■ Implement table partitioning to manage large datasets more efficiently.
○ Indexing:
■ Ensure proper indexing on all tables to improve query performance and
reduce the need for full table scans.
3. Long-term Architecture for Scalability
○ Monitoring and Alerting:
■ Set up comprehensive monitoring and alerting tools for proactive issue
detection and resolution.

○ Caching Strategies:
■ Implement Redis caching more effectively to reduce database load.
○ Read/Write Separation:
■ Separate read and write operations to distribute the load and improve
performance.
○ Batch Processing:
■ Optimize batch jobs and ensure they do not interfere with real-time
operations.
○ Cost Management:
■ Continuously monitor and optimize the database usage to manage and
reduce costs.

- Proven experience in performance enhancement for SAAS products.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with PostgreSQL.
