SQL Server Clone & Backup

I have a SQL Server 2016 instance that powers our development environment, and I need an experienced administrator to help me both duplicate the server and tighten up our backup routine.

Here’s what I’m looking to accomplish:

• Create a clean, fully functioning clone of the current development database and all related SQL Server objects so I can spin up new dev or test environments quickly.
• Design and document a reliable backup-and-restore workflow—full, differential, and log backups—with clear retention rules that fit our existing storage.
• Share a concise runbook or step-by-step guide so my in-house team can repeat the process without guesswork.

Acceptance criteria
1. I can restore the cloned instance on another machine without errors.
2. Automated jobs run on schedule and produce valid backups that pass a test restore.
3. Documentation is clear enough for a non-DBA developer to follow.
