Diagnose WooCommerce CPU Spikes

Job ID: 39731852

Budget: $500 – $3,000 CAD

Our WooCommerce store (≈13 k products, live for five years) keeps maxing out CPU on a brand-new CloudLinux 9.6 box (8 GB RAM / 8 cores, MySQL 8). Even idle, MySQL alone burns ±3 cores and visitors frequently hit 508 resource-limit or “Error establishing database connection” messages.

Everything obvious has already been tried—plugin and core updates, transient cleanup, product lookup table regeneration, session and scheduled-action purges, WP-Cron offloaded to system cron, table optimization and overhead removal, unused tables dropped. None of that moved the needle.

I now suspect the bottleneck sits in our database layer and query patterns. Beyond cleaning out stale data I haven’t run indexing reviews, query rewrites, or any real profiling; the MySQL slow-query log is still untouched.

I need a specialist who can
• capture and analyze slow/expensive queries (slow-query log, EXPLAIN, Performance Schema, Query Monitor, or your preferred tools)
• propose and apply the right fixes—index additions, query refactors, WooCommerce hook adjustments, or selective plugin hardening—without breaking storefront functionality
• document each change and its effect, aiming to bring average CPU usage well below the current ceiling and eliminate the 508/db-connection errors

Please outline your diagnostic approach, the tooling you’ll rely on, and similar WooCommerce/MySQL rescues you’ve handled. Once the load drops and stability is confirmed, we’ll wrap up with a short hand-off report so I can keep the site healthy going forward.
