AWS RDS & SDK Upgrade
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m preparing for three AWS-issued RDS Planned Lifecycle events and one SDK deprecation. All of our databases sit on AWS-managed RDS (answer recorded as “AWS”), and the immediate job is to upgrade each existing instance to the newest, fully-supported engine version rather than migrate to fresh instances.
Your task is to plan and execute those in-place upgrades, validate performance and compliance, and then update the application build process so it uses the latest AWS SDK before our next production publish. Work will include snapshotting for rollback safety, applying the upgrade in a controlled window, and confirming that connectivity, IAM roles and monitoring continue to operate as expected.
Deliverables
• Successful, documented upgrade of the three RDS instances with zero data loss
• Updated build pipeline that compiles against the latest AWS SDK and passes existing tests
• Post-upgrade verification report – performance benchmarks, log checks and CloudWatch alarms status
