AWS RDS Connection Issue Troubleshooting

Job ID: 40066930

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I manage a production workload that relies on an AWS RDS instance; lately the database keeps dropping client connections during peak hours and it is starting to impact user experience. I have confirmed that security-group rules and credentials are correct, so the problem appears to be deeper—possibly in the way the instance is sized, how the subnet or VPC is configured, or even in parameter-group or engine settings.

Your task is to dive in, trace the root cause of these frequent connection drops, and guide me through a permanent fix. You will probably need to inspect CloudWatch metrics, Enhanced Monitoring or Performance Insights, review logs for timeout or max-connection limits, and check network paths such as NAT gateways or route tables. If you prefer additional tooling—such as RDS Proxy, AWS Trusted Advisor, or third-party monitoring—let me know and we can grant access.

Deliverables
• A concise diagnostic report outlining the exact cause (or most likely causes) of the disconnections.
• A step-by-step remediation plan, followed by implementation and verification in the live environment.
• A short knowledge-transfer session or document so I can maintain the new configuration confidently.

Acceptance Criteria
• No unexpected connection drops during two consecutive peak periods.
• CloudWatch metrics and application logs confirming stable, sustained connections.
• All changes documented in the AWS console change log or an accompanying text file.

I will supply temporary credentials to the account and be available for quick testing whenever you need. Let’s restore stable connectivity right away.
