Missing Asset MyMap Creation ($50)
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I will supply two GIS layers:
• asset points (culverts, bridges, etc.)
• road–stream intersection points
Your task is to isolate every intersection that lacks an asset within roughly 20 m, then present those candidate sites on a share-ready Google MyMap.
Process I suggest you to follow
1. Load both layers into GIS. No specific CRS is required, so you are free to work in the default WGS 84.
2. Buffer each intersection point by 20 m.
3. Run a spatial join (or difference) to flag buffered intersections that contain no asset points.
4. Export the resulting points to a CSV (comma-, tab-, or semicolon-separated; any is acceptable). Be sure the file includes latitude and longitude fields.
5. Import the CSV into Google MyMaps, apply the standard styling option, and make the map public via “Anyone with the link can view.”
6. Send me the shareable MyMap link along with the CSV and a brief note confirming the total count of “missing asset” locations.
Deliverables (acceptance criteria)
• CSV of the filtered intersection points with correct lat/long columns
• Public Google MyMap displaying those points, using standard styling
• Confirmation of point count and a short description of steps taken so I can replicate the workflow if needed
