Density bubble mapping

I am looking for help writing up the code in R for making a nice bubble map of animal density on a map showing bathymetry. I have a base map but getting bubbles on it has proven difficult for me.
Ultimately would like individual maps for 20 yrs of data and produce a movie that goes through time showing the changing densities.
