Process a Genealogy file

My father created a family tree with a lot of notes, but that was in the 1990s and the file format is old. We have a GEDCOM file, but it doesn't properly upload to Ancestry.com so it's probably some ancient version of the GEDCOM format or may have a tiny error. I have one .uds file and more usefully a tab delimited .txt file.
I'd like a software engineer to read in one of these file formats and process it into a clean and modern GEDCOM file that I can upload to Ancestry.com.
It should be a pretty easy and fun project. Thank you!
