Excel Copy-Paste Troubleshooting

I'm encountering difficulties with copy-pasting data within the same Excel spreadsheet. When i copy data or entire lines into the same Excel spreadsheet the programme seems to go on an endless loop without coming to completion. There is some glitch in the programme. The Excel programme I am using is very basic and would take a quick fix by a knowledgeable person - I hope.........
