Development Operations & Audience Engagement Consultant (Project-Based)

Boomerang Theatre Company seeks a creative and detail-oriented Development Operations & Audience Engagement Consultant to support audience outreach, donor engagement, and development systems around our upcoming free outdoor production of The Taming of the Shrew in Central Park.
This role combines fundraising strategy, audience engagement, and hands-on development operations. Working alongside Boomerang’s leadership team, the consultant will help identify new giving opportunities, activate supporters, and strengthen the systems that help us steward relationships and track results.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys both big-picture campaign thinking and practical systems work—someone excited by turning audience energy into lasting engagement and making sure our tools and lists support that work efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Audience Engagement & Fundraising
-Collaborate with leadership on short-term fundraising and engagement strategy tied to The Taming of the Shrew
-Identify and implement opportunities for giving during the production run and related events
-Create outreach strategies for:
*current donors
*recurring donors
*lapsed supporters
*first-time audience members
-Recommend creative stewardship and fundraising activations tied to performances and community events
Development Operations & Systems
-Review and maximize Boomerang’s current development tools and workflows
-Help maintain clean, organized donor and audience records across platforms
-Ensure donor and audience lists are updated accurately and in a timely manner
-Segment audiences for targeted outreach and stewardship
-Identify opportunities to improve CRM usage, list management, and campaign follow-up
-Support consistent tracking of donations, audience engagement, and campaign outcomes
-Recommend practical systems or templates that improve efficiency for the current team
Digital Campaigns & Reporting
-Support messaging and campaign coordination across:
*Givebutter
*On The Stage
*Constant Contact
*social media
-Monitor campaign response and audience engagement
-Share simple reporting and recommendations throughout the run
-Help document takeaways and systems improvements for future campaigns
Ideal Qualifications
-Experience in nonprofit development, arts administration, donor services, CRM management, or audience engagement
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Comfortable managing data and keeping systems current
-Ability to think strategically while handling day-to-day execution
-Strong written communication skills
-Interest in theatre or performing arts preferred
Bonus if you have experience with:
*small arts organizations
*donor databases/CRM cleanup
*Givebutter, On The Stage, or Constant Contact
*audience segmentation or email automation
This role may be a strong fit for:
