Excel Image Filename Updater

I have an Excel workbook that lists hundreds of product names next to an alphanumeric code that matches the current filenames of their images (e.g., “A17BX.jpg”). I need every file in the image folder renamed so the products code is appended to the existing name—something like “A17BX_black-heather.jpg”.

Here’s the workflow I have in mind:
• Open the Excel sheet, locate the style and color, copy the adjacent code.
• Find the matching image in the folder.
• Add the code after the name in the filename, preserving the file extension and the original name portion exactly.


Accuracy is critical; the codes must be spelled exactly as in the spreadsheet. A quick spot-check of your first twenty renames will serve as acceptance before you proceed with the rest.
