Download & Convert Google Photos

I have roughly 60 GB of memories stored in Google Photos (web interface access is already enabled) and I want the entire library copied to an external hard drive. Every photo and video must be preserved at full resolution, organised, and converted into widely-compatible formats before the data reaches the disk.

What I need you to do
• Export every original file directly from Google Photos.
• Sort the content into a clear Year/Month/Day folder hierarchy.
• Convert all images to standard JPG/JPEG; no HEIC or other niche formats should remain.
• Ensure every video is delivered as MP4—transcode any MOV or similar files as needed while keeping quality high.
• Rename each file to the exact date-and-time it was taken (YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS).
• Transfer the finished, verified archive to the hard drive I provide (we can arrange shipping or a remote copy).

Acceptance checklist
1. Drive contains 100 % of the Google Photos media with no missing items.
2. Folder structure is Year/Month/Day and mirrors the original timestamps.
3. All photos open as JPG/JPEG; all videos play as MP4.
4. Filenames match the embedded capture date and time.
5. Random spot checks show no quality losses or corrupted files.

When you respond, briefly outline the tools or workflow you’ll use (Google Takeout, Google Photos API, ExifTool, FFmpeg, etc.) and estimate the turnaround time.
