Revamp SharePoint-Linked Access Database
Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
My department relies on a Microsoft Access front-end that pulls and pushes data to SharePoint lists. Over time it has become fragile—occasional glitches appear, and staff complain that nothing is as straightforward as it should be. I need an expert to dive in, stabilise the back-end connections, and then make the whole file easier to live with.
What I’m looking for
• First, diagnose and repair the root problems (they are not classic “data corruption / slow performance / connectivity” issues, yet something in that neighbourhood is causing intermittent failures).
• Once stability is restored, reorganise the tables, queries, and forms so information is grouped logically and redundant pieces are removed.
• Add thoughtful “simplification” features—fewer clicks, clearer navigation, and concise forms/reports that hide complexity from day-to-day users.
Useful context
• The file sits in Access 365 and links to several SharePoint Online lists.
• Current objects include half-finished macros, mixed VBA, and legacy queries; feel free to streamline or replace any of these.
• Any new objects must stay compatible with our Microsoft 365 environment—no external add-ins.
Deliverables
1. A clean, fully functional .accdb that reconnects seamlessly to the existing SharePoint lists.
2. Updated data model diagram and brief hand-over notes explaining major structural changes.
3. At least one example of a simplified workflow (e.g., single-button data import/export, or a consolidated dashboard form).
