Higher Education Data Infrastructure Consultant

PROJECT OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced higher education data and digital transformation consultant to support community colleges in strengthening their data infrastructure, integrating key student systems, and enabling data-informed student success strategies.
This is a project-based engagement focused on system integration, data governance, dashboard development, and institutional capacity building.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Design and evaluate institutional data architecture across SIS, LMS, CRM, and early alert platforms.
Implement or optimize scalable data pipelines and warehouse architecture in a cloud environment.
Improve data quality through profiling, validation, cleansing, and deduplication processes.
Develop dashboards and reports that support access, retention, progression, and completion goals.
Establish governance frameworks including ownership models, naming standards, and access controls compliant with FERPA.
Support institutional leaders in aligning digital transformation efforts with student success outcomes.
SCOPE OF WORK
Phase 1 – Assessment and Architecture Review
Conduct technical assessment of current infrastructure including SIS, LMS, CRM, and reporting environment.
Deliver a written gap analysis and recommended architecture roadmap.
Phase 2 – Data Integration and Quality Optimization
Design or refine data pipelines and warehouse structure.
Implement data validation rules and monitoring processes.
Deliver documented integration workflows and governance standards.
Phase 3 – Dashboard and Insight Development
Develop executive and operational dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
Create documentation and training materials for institutional users.
Phase 4 – Governance and Capacity Building
Design data governance framework including stewardship roles and access control policies.
Deliver training sessions for leadership and technical teams.
Provide change management guidance for digital adoption.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience working with higher education systems such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar, or Workday
Strong SQL and data quality management experience
Experience integrating SIS, LMS, CRM, and student success tools
Cloud experience in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Dashboard development experience
Understanding of FERPA and higher education data structures
Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives
