Smart Excel Vehicle Log
Budget: $750 – $1,500 NZD
I have a rough template that lets us jot down vehicle details, but it’s nothing more than a blank grid. I need you to rebuild it into a clean, rules-driven Excel workbook so anyone in the team can enter data without breaking formats or formulas.
Core columns I must track are:
• Vehicle Registration
• Date In / Time In
• Year
• Customer Name
• Drop-off Date
• Collection Time
• Mileage
• Fuel Level
Data integrity is critical. Registrations should follow the standard alphanumeric pattern, dates must stay in day-month-year, times in 24-hour, years as four digits, mileage as a whole number, and fuel as either a percentage or a numeric value we agree on. If an entry doesn’t fit the rule, the sheet should prompt the user immediately.
Please structure the table as an official Excel “ListObject” so it auto-expands, give it clear headers, freeze the top row, and add autofilter buttons. A touch of conditional formatting—nothing flashy—will help highlight overdue collection dates later.
Deliverables
1. A single .xlsx file with all columns laid out, data-validation rules applied, and sample rows that demonstrate each rule.
2. A concise step-by-step note (max one page) explaining how to tweak the validation settings or add new fields in future.
No macros are needed; native Excel features only. Let me know if you need the current mock-up before you start.
