Python-Based Data Verification Automation

I have several spreadsheets that must be checked for accuracy before they feed into a reporting pipeline. The task is pure data entry work focused on Data Verification, yet I want the process handled (or at least supported) with Python so we can repeat it whenever new files arrive.
You’ll receive the raw CSV/Excel files plus a reference list that contains the correct values. Your job is to verify every record, flag and correct discrepancies, and return a clean, validated dataset. If you prefer, build a small Python script—pandas is fine—that automates look-ups and highlights mismatches; just make sure the final figures are 100 % accurate.
Deliverables expected
• A fully verified file in the original format
• A brief log (or comments column) showing what was fixed and why
• If you choose automation, the Python script with clear inline comments so I can rerun it next time
