Pittsburgh Symphony Cello/Bass Spreadsheet
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have a PDF that contains scanned Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra programs for every season from 1896 through 1932. Each page lists the musicians who played that year. What I need is a tidy, plain-text spreadsheet—Google Sheet would be ideal so you can share it for real-time feedback—capturing only the players who performed on Cello or Bass.
Scope of work
• Open the PDF, page by page, and locate every mention of a cellist or bassist.
• For each appearance, add a separate row with three columns in this exact order:
Season | Musician Name | Instrument (Cello or Bass) | Notes (e.g,. Principal)
• A player who appears in multiple seasons should have a separate row for every individual year.
Deliverable
A single .xlsx or .csv file containing all rows from 1896-1932. There are about 20 musicians per season, so there will be about 800 rows total. Most seasons span two years, like 1930-31, but there are exceptions.
Source
I am attaching the PDF. It actually goes through the 2017-18 season, but you can stop in 1932-33.
