Modify Excel spreadsheets for grading
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am looking for a freelancer who can help me modify Excel spreadsheets for grading purposes. The specific modifications needed are formula adjustments to ensure accurate calculations.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Excel and formula writing
- Strong understanding of mathematical calculations and functions
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate grading
- Ability to follow instructions and guidance on desired outcomes
- Good communication skills to discuss and clarify data requirements
The desired outcome from the formula adjustments is to have specific calculations that accurately reflect the grading criteria.
In particular, I am using a relatively new grading system to determine final grades in my college courses. It is called SPECS grading (short for “Specifications” grading). To summarize, a student will “Pass” an assignment if their performance meets or exceeds criteria (“specifications”) I established in advance. Otherwise, if the student does not meet the said criteria, (s)he will “Fail” the assignment. So, this final grading scale does NOT require students to work toward accumulating points over the semester, or to consider percentages of total points earned over the semester either. Instead, students will earn a final grade based on how many assignments they “Passed” over the entire term.
The online course management system which hosts my courses (called Canvas) has a gradebook, which can be downloaded and saved as an Excel spreadsheet. However, the Canvas gradebook only presents raw points earned with each assignment, as opposed to calculating letter grades.
What I need: 3 Excel spreadsheets to (a) convert points associated with each assignment to either a Pass (P) or Fail (F) letter grade, (b) to count how many P or F grades a student earned within each assignment category, and (c) yield a Final grade (A, B, C, D, or F), based on how many assignments within each assignment category a student Passed. Instructions for each spreadsheet are found in the attached zip file.
I have sample data from old formulas/spreadsheets PLUS instructions for you to work with in the attached zip file to convert them to my new specifications. This will hopefully ensure that the formulas are tested with realistic data and produce accurate results.
If you have the necessary skills and experience, and are comfortable with following guidance on data input and organization, please reach out to discuss further details of the project.
