Data Entry for UK companies
Budget: £1,500 – £3,000 GBP
Aim: to find as many UK company names and UK companies house numbers as possible for each target in our spreadsheet - we have around 4000 records that need to be processed
- company names are normally followed by limited, ltd, limited liability partnership, LLP, public limited company, or plc.
- company numbers normally have 6, 8 or 12 identifiers that are mostly numbers, but can sometimes be prefixed/suffixed with 2 letters.
this is a manual task, this task cannot be done with web scraping or bots etc
In the sheet provided are:
- c_ref = unique reference
- business = an approximate business name
- approx_postcode = the approximate postcode for the business
- approx_address = the approximate address for the business
To do this you will have to find the webpage of each business googling the business name, and possibly including the postcode. In some cases the business is an address so we want the company name and number for that operates at that address.
Once you have a webpage for the business you will begin to look for the company name/number:
- sometimes the company number and/or name is given in the footer of the homepage, sometimes on the side. It will read something like "© APS Property Group Ltd- All Rights Reserved" noting that it includes "Ltd" in this case.
- most of the time the company name/number is not on the homepage. In this case look for a link to either a privacy or legal page, normall found in the footer or header of the homepage.
- on the privacy/legal page look for the company name/number. Normally this is written in legal language, for example "For the purpose of applicable privacy legislation, the data controller is Conilon Ltd t/a Black Sheep Coffee of 81 Southwark Street, London, United Kingdom, SE1 0HX. Our company registration number is 08663274."
- in some case, no company may exists for the business, in which case leave the company name/number blank. For example the business "Royal College of Nursing"
